SIKESTON - Police are looking for the man who attempted the abduction and sexual assault of a teen-age girl in Sikeston.

Sikeston Department of Public Safety Director Drew Juden said the 14-year-old victim was walking home Monday from the Sikeston Alternative School when she was approached by a male driving a dark green Hummer with Illinois registration. The victim told DPS the suspect asked her to get into the vehicle and, when she refused, he grabbed her and placed her in the Hummer. She said the suspect held her as he tried to sexually assault her, but she was able to push him off and to get away. The victim sustained minor injuries during the ordeal.

The Sikeston teen told officers that the same suspect had approached her last Friday, however on that day, he was driving a white Chevy Cavalier, also with Illinois registration. She said the suspect told her he knew her from Cape Girardeau and that his name was "Drew."

He is described as being a black male between the ages of 18 and 25 with braided hair, dark complexion, a muscular build and a tattoo of a child's face on his upper arm, with the name "Woody" under it. The suspect also wore a diamond earring in his right ear and a ring with the letter "K" on it.

"Parents should let their children know about the dangers of talking with strangers that approach them," Juden added. "Parents are also asked to watch for vehicles waiting around schools that do not appear to have a reason for being there and to call DPS if any suspicious vehicle are observed immediately."

Anyone with information about this incident, suspect or the vehicles described is asked to call 471-6200 or 471-1500. All communications are kept confidential.
