Julia Burke

KANSAS CITY - Julia Burke, 90, formerly of Bernie, died Feb. 4, 2004, at The Greens Creekside Healthcare Center in Kansas City.

Born Nov. 1, 1913, in Bernie, daughter of the late Gabe A. and Ida Ellen Neal Pointer, she was a member of the Bernie General Baptist Church since 1937.

On Dec. 6, 1931, at Piggott, Ark., she married Ules Grover Burke who preceded her in death on July 27, 1968.

Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Janis and Dr. Larry Gallamore of Kansas City; one daughter-in-law, Mary Burke of Bernie; one brother, Byron Pointer of Bernie; two sisters, Jean Yeager of Dexter and Thelma Plympton of Waterford, Mich.; and three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, Jerry Burke and David Burke; one daughter, Janet Ann Burke; two brothers, Fred Pointer and Henry Pointer; one sister, Eunice Reeves; and one granddaughter, Pam Burke.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Bernie General Baptist Church with the Rev. Arvil Edmonds officiating.

Burial will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
