Maurice Beardslee

BENTON - Maurice Beardslee, 86, died at 12:38 p.m. Oct. 21, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Nov. 7, 1914, in Oran, son of the late Paul and Frances Groves Beardslee, he was a mechanic for Chrysler Auto in Detroit, Mich., before retiring and was a member of the Benton Methodist Church.

On June 18, 1940, at Detroit, he married Elizabeth Garber who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Thomas A. Beardslee of Benton; one brother, Charles Beardslee of Cincinnati, Ohio; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, two brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Karen Taylor, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery at Commerce.
