NEW MADRID - Construction is nearing completion of a building to serve as the clubhouse at the New Madrid Country Club. The $178,000 building, which replaces one destroyed by fire earlier this year, will include multiple-purpose areas which provide room for dining, a bar, kitchen, restrooms and receptions. A screened-in porch, located off the back of the building, is designed by Sikeston architect John Sargent to offer a view of the golf course and swimming pool. Sargent said the 3,600-square foot building should be completed by the end of October.
