Pete Ward

EAST PRAIRIE - Charles Buford "Pete" Ward, 61, died at 8:05 p.m. Jan. 13, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born July 19, 1942, in East Prairie, son of the late Buford Ward and Maxine Anderson Ward Sherman, he lived most of his life in East Prairie where he retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 28 years of service. He served four years with the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Scotland.

On June 7, 1963, at Charleston, he married Vivian Pritchett who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Terry Ward of East Prairie; one sister, Linda Davis of Sikeston; one brother, Claude Ward of DeSoto; and one granddaughter, Dakota of East Prairie.

He was preceded in death by two special aunts, Hattie Chapman and Maude Gilmore.

Visitation begins at 5 p.m. Friday at Shelby Funeral Home where a memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday. Dale Billingsley will officiate.
