PORTAGEVILLE - Arlie Irvin Flowers, 98, died Jan. 13, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born Dec. 1, 1905, in Center Ridge, Ark., son of the late James F. and Nora Ann Palmer Flowers, he was a member of Big Ridge Baptist Church since 1947, where he served as a deacon.

On May 10, 1928, in Center Ridge, he married Lona Mae Bartlett who preceded him in death on Dec. 25 1991.

Survivors include: one son, Ed Flowers of Portageville; two grandchildren, Greg Flowers of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Pam Welter of Benton; three stepgrandchildren, Samantha Welter, Trevor Welter and Jordan Denny; two great-grandchildren, Tim Flowers and Debbie Flowers; one great-great-grandchild, Alex Purdam; and a special friend, Brenda Flowers of Scottsdale.

Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Ardith "Shorty" Flowers in infancy and Willie "Bill" Flowers; and two sisters, Ada Howard and Oma Bartlett.

Visitation begins at 6 p.m. today at DeLisle Funeral Home, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday. The Revs. Shirrell Smith, Gaylord Grindstaff and Bob Kespelher will officiate.

Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
