PORTAGEVILLE - Margaret James, 83, died Feb. 15, 2004, at her home.

Born Dec. 28, 1920, in Derring, daughter of the late William M. and Lular Belle Foster Barksdale, she attended the J.Y. Church of God.

On Feb. 19, 1942, at Hayti, she married Charles A. "Charlie" James who preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 1995.

Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Charles Michael and Robin James of Portageville; one daughter and son-in-law, Nelda Darleen and Jack Kimes of Portageville; one sister, Thelma Treece of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Bill Barksdale of Sikeston and Herbert Barksdale of Dearborn, Mich.; three granddaughters and spouses, Leslie Kimes Hall and Melissa Ann and James Fowler of Portageville and Angela Marie and Eric Eftink of Brighton, Tenn.; two stepgrandchildren, Evan Quick and Sara Quick of Portageville; five great-grandchildren, Chelsea Eftink, Michael Fowler, Megan Hall, Aaron Eftink and Alexis Eftink; and her faithful companion, Misty.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Mehner and Nina Phillips; and three brothers, Ed Barksdale, Richard Barksdale and Horace Barksdale.

Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today at DeLisle Funeral Home where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Wayne Tribble will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
