Sammy Thomann
SIKESTON - Samantha Camille "Sammy" Thomann, 83, died at 5 a.m. Feb. 27, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
Born on March 7, 1920, in Portageville to the late Benjamin Arthur and Lillie Mae Bodi Tanner, she was a supervisor of the sewing department for 32 years at International Shoe Co. and then worked in the cafeteria at Sikeston Junior High School until her retirement. A charter member of the Illinois Avenue General Baptist Church, she served as a Sunday school teacher and worked with the youth.
On March 15, 1940, in Benton, she married Carl Irvin Thomann who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Pat Thomann of Paducah, Ky.; one daughter, Carlene Tinsley of Sikeston; three brothers, James Tanner of Sikeston, Otis Tanner of Flintstone, Ga., and Preston Tanner of Kingman, Ariz.; one sister, Rose Hill of Dexter; and six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Gary Zook of Sikeston and the Rev. Rick Lasley of the Wesley United Methodist Church will officiate.
Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Charley Tinsley, Ken Thomann Jr., Rick Bohnert, Bob Ormes, Keith Jones and Larry Jones.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Lois Russell, Allene McConnell, Vivian Hopper, Willine Miller and Pauline Heckert.
