SIKESTON - David Edward Boyer, 54, died at 5:25 p.m. Dec. 23, 2003, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Born Oct. 13, 1949, in Sikeston, son of Ralph E. and Martha Jane Lewis Boyer of Sikeston, he was a 1967 graduate of Sikeston High School. He graduated in 1972 from Culver-Stockton College at Canton and worked in commercial construction for many years with Boyer Construction Company of Sikeston. A member of the First Christian Church in Sikeston, he was also a member of the Sikeston Jaycees and was active with the Sikeston Little Theater organization.
On Dec. 20, 1985, in Sikeston, he married Saralyn Ruffin who survives of the home.
Survivors in addition to his wife and parents include: one stepson, Eric Pobst and his fiancee Carla Wiggins, both of Paducah, Ky.; one brother and sister-in-law, Philip and Janice Boyer of Sikeston; one sister and brother-in-law, Sally and David Lape of Sikeston; and four nieces and nephews, Megan Boyer of St. Louis, Katie Lape at the University of Missouri-Columbia, Cooper Lape at the University of Mississippi at Oxford and Riley Lape of Sikeston.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, where services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Allen Shriver, pastor of the First Christian Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery near Morley.
Pallbearers will be: James Bain, Tom Story, Barry Greer, Fred Matthews, David Whitaker and Richard Sherrod.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Bob Bell, Lyman Dame, Jim Warf, Mike Mills, John Speakman, Steve Matthews, Steve Hunter, G. David Bird, Terry Schaefer, Rick Perry and John Fuchs.
