BATON ROUGE, La. - Steven Lynn "Stevie" Taylor, 45, formerly of Lilbourn, Mo., died Jan. 13, 2004, at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge.

Born Oct. 2, 1958, in Sikeston, Mo., son of Shirley Lee Coffee Taylor of Baton Rouge and the late Junior Ray "Hoot" Taylor, he was an employee of Shaw Sunland Fabricators in Walker, a subsidiary of The Shaw Group. He was an avid LSU football fan.

Stevie was the sweetest, kindest, most loving, caring and gentle man. He will be remembered for his love and devotion to his family and friends and his keen sense of humor. His special relationship with his family and friends will always be remembered.

In addition to his mother, survivors include: his girlfriend, Lisa Cain of Baton Rouge; one son, Kyle Taylor of New Madrid, Mo.; one daughter, Toni Lynne Taylor Phelps of New Madrid; one granddaughter, Brea Phelps of New Madrid; two brothers, Tony Taylor and his wife, Cindy, of Baton Rouge and Sammy Taylor and his fiancee, Rebecca White of Huntsville, Ala.; three uncles and their wives, Teddy and Sharon Coffee and Harvey and Billie Taylor of Lilbourn and Elmo and Louise Johnson of Portageville, Mo.; two aunts, Linda Coffee Porter of Baton Rouge and Myrtle Ice of New Madrid; his former wife, Beth Fowler of New Madrid; his grandmother, Wilma Coffee of Lilbourn; his great-aunt, Opal Baehr of Lilbourn; and several nieces and nephews including Justin and Erica Taylor of Baton Rouge and Jordy Taylor and Jennifer Taylor of Huntsville.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Carrie Taylor; and maternal grandfather, Sam Coffee.

Visitation is from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday at Ponder Funeral Home in Lilbourn.

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at the First Church of God in Lilbourn. The Revs. Bob Medlock and Bill Reid will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Mounds Park Cemetery near Lilbourn.

Pallbearers will be: Danny Baehr, Robert Fowler, David McClarty, Bobby Lynn Nesselrodt, Robert Riley Jr., Kenny Schaffer, T.J. Sides and Joe Vann.
