Willard Douglas

CAPE GIRARDEAU - Willard C. Douglas, 94, died at 4:10 p.m. Jan. 23, 2004, at The Lutheran Home.

Born May 6, 1909, in Illmo, son of the late O.C. and Mae Smith Douglas, he was a civil engineer for the U.S. Corps of Engineers, retiring on July 24, 1970, from the St. Louis District. A 1928 graduate of Illmo High School, he attended Purdue University at Lafayette, Ind., and was a life member of the Illmo United Methodist Church.

He was first married to Eva Morgan who preceded him in death.

On Aug. 28, 1976, he married Sally Hobbs who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sisters, Evelyn Costello of Temeckula, Calif., and Edna Maupin of Pine Bluff, Ark.; and one niece, Dixie Johnson of Virginia Beach, Va.

One brother and two sisters also preceded him in death.

A memorial service was conducted at 10:30 a.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City with the Rev. Jim Woeltje officiating.

Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery at Cape Girardeau.
