CAPE GIRARDEAU - Artelia Borgmann, 83, died at 9:05 p.m. Feb. 20, 2004, at the Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Aug. 10, 1920, at Hornwall, Tenn., daughter of the late Jasper and Eveline Mathis Skelton, she attended the Friendship School in Portageville for eight years and was of the Pentecostal belief.

In 1938, at Portageville, she married Earl Rooker who preceded her in death in December 2001. She and Alwin Borgmann were married in 1955 at Beaufort and he died in 1978.

She is survived by one son, Ronnie E. Rooker of Phnom Penh, Cambodia; and seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were 10 brothers, including Richard, Henry, Wilburn "Wink," Ralph "Joe," Manford "Tom," Luther "Skinny" and Tinsey; and two sisters, Alma and Myrie Lee.

Services were conducted at 10 a.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel with the Rev. Cy Smith officiating.

Burial followed in Mount Zion Cemetery at Steele.
