Darrol Dowdy
DEXTER - Darrol Dowdy, 64, died Jan. 8, 2004, in the emergency room at Missouri Southern Healthcare.
Born Oct. 17, 1939, at rural Dexter, son of Pauline Lawrence Dowdy of Dexter and the late Danzil Dowdy, he was a member of the Westside Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. The former co-owner of Christian-Dowdy Lumber Company in Dexter, he was a board member of the Armstead Dowdy Cemetery Association and active in the prison ministry at the Southeast Correctional Center in Charleston.
On Feb. 15, 1959, at Broseley, he married Elaine Jordan who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Darius Dowdy of Dexter; one daughter, Lisa Walters of Dexter; two brothers, Larry Dowdy of Cape Girardeau and Dan Dowdy of Dexter; three sisters, Janice Crum of Park Hills, Roberta Sanders of Columbia, and Gloria Lynn Dowdy of Kansas City; and two grandchildren, Jordan Walters and Elijah Dowdy.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Lex Horner officiating.
Burial will follow in the Armstead Dowdy Cemetery near Dexter.
