SIKESTON - Molene V. Childers, 85, died Jan. 9, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center. Born Feb. 1, 1918, in Unity, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Phoebe Ann Phillips Hagler. SIKESTON - Molene V. Childers, 85, died Jan. 9, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Born Feb. 1, 1918, in Unity, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Phoebe Ann Phillips Hagler. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sikeston for 63 years, where she was church librarian for many years and was also member of the Ruth Sunday school class. Before retiring, she had been a teachers aide at the Airport School and Southeast Elementary School in Sikeston and co-owned and operated Childers Grocery near Bell City for 11 years.

On June 26, 1937, at Charleston, she married Orville Glenn Childers who preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 1996.

Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Glenna and Don Swilley of Sikeston; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dean and Priscilla Childers of Coconut Creek, Fla., and David and Judy Childers of Oran; her grandchildren and spouses, Paul and Ann Swilley, Michael Swilley, David and Allison Swilley, Dara Vaughan, Byron Childers, Andy and Candice Childers and Gini and Josh Curtis; and six great-grandchildren.

Three brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church. Dr. Rick Ramsey and the Rev. David Jackson, pastors, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley.

Pallbearers will be: Byron Childers, Andy Childers, Paul Swilley, Michael Swilley, Dean Hagler Jr. and Russell Hagler Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be: David Swilley and Josh Curtis.

We will all miss this incredibly strong and spiritual woman.
