Elsa Melzer
PALATINE, Ill. - Elsa Honold Melzer, 95, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died Jan. 7, 2004, at the Rosewood Care Center in Inverness.
Born July 4, 1908, in Niles, daughter of the late Henry and Rosa Meyer Honold, she lived in Illinois most of her life. A graduate of the Rugen School in Glenview, she graduated from the Luther Institute in Chicago and LaSalle University School of Accounting and was a retired accountant. She and her husband retired in 1970 and moved to Sikeston, where she was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and was a volunteer for the Sikeston Senior Citizens Nutrition Center. She returned to Illinois in 2001 and lived at the Tamarack Retirement Home in Palatine.
Her husband, Adam Wright Melzer, preceded her in death on March 23, 1978.
Survivors include: two nieces and husbands, Elizabeth Louise and Glenn Bridier of Wauconda and Joan Louise and Lawrence LePage of Gullfey, Colo.; two great-nephews and wives, Robert and Elizabeth Bridier of Palatine and Jeffery and Van LePage of Colorado; one great-niece, Lynnette Bridier of Palatine; one niece by marriage, Ethel Mae Hawkins of Lake Geneva, Wis.; and six great-great-nephews, Zachary Bridier, Adam Bridier, James Branthaver and Brandon Branthaver of Palatine and Thomas LePage and Daniel LePage of Denver, Colo.; and one great-great-niece, Hannah Bridier of Palatine.
Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Walter Honold and William Honold; one sister, Edna Engel; and one great-nephew, Glenn LaPage.
Visitation is from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Concordia Lutheran Church in Sikeston with the Rev. A.J. Wollenburg, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
