Jewell Pointer

FESTUS - Jewell Pointer, 92, formerly of Bernie, died Jan. 9, 2004, at the Jefferson County Memorial Hospital in Festus.

Born Feb. 14, 1911, at Bernie, daughter of the late J.W. and Violet Allison, she was a member of the Bernie General Baptist Church and a former cook at the Bernie High School.

On Jan. 23, 1929, at Piggott, she married Ginger Pointer who preceded her in death on June 7, 1969.

She was also preceded in death by: one son, Donald Pointer, on Nov. 13, 2003; two brothers, J.L. Allison and Billy Allison; and two sisters, Betty Reed and Opal Kincaid.

Survivors include: two sons, Lelan Pointer of Swartz Creek, Mich., and Myrell Pointer of Flint, Texas; one daughter, Willetta Kleinschmidt of Festus; two brothers, Evan Allison of Flint and Bob Allison of Mt. Morris, Mich.; one sister, Pearl Shelton of Arroyo Grande, Calif.; and 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. today until time for services scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie.

Burial will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
