ST. CHARLES - The Sikeston Bulldogs wrestling team took fourth place in the 12-team St. Charles Tournament over the weekend.
The Bulldogs finished with 224 points. Troy took first place with 382.5 points. MICDS finished in second with 249 points and Windsor took third with 241 points.
Sikeston had four wrestlers take first place in the tournament.
Kyle Weeks (135 pounds) and Scotty Keenan (171 pounds) each had 5-0 records. Heavyweight Joe Johnson went 6-0 and Lance Berry (160) went 4-0.
"We had a real good tournament, even though we didn't place as high as we wanted to team-wise," said Sikeston head coach Chris Hodgkiss. "We had a few forfeits, but in the matches we did wrestle we performed well. We had four champions in the tournament, which is more than any other team. We're really pleased with that."
Another big story for Sikeston was Weeks, who broke a school record with his 106th career win, putting him past Jerry Winberry's record of 105 set from 1990-1994.
"I'm very proud of the career Kyle has had," said Hodgkiss. "I guarantee if you ask him, he won't be satisfied with this accomplishment. He has pretty high goals for himself in the state tournament. I'm looking forward to him accomplishing those goals."
Sikeston had three other wrestlers place in the tournament.
Cody Weeks (140 pounds) took second place with a 4-1 mark. Tony Reynolds (145) finished 4-2 to take third place. Malcolm Williams (189) went 3-3 to take fifth place.
Others wrestlers that competed but did not place were: Ben Powers (0-5), Cody Ryan (2-5), Shawn Cooper (1-3), Cullen Looney (0-5) and Andy Croxford (2-3).
Sikeston will be back in action on Thursday with a dual meet at Jackson at 6 p.m.
