Joseph Ellis

CHARLESTON - Joseph H. Ellis Jr., 94, died Oct. 3, 2001, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born April 20, 1907, in Newbern, Tenn., son of the late Joseph H. and Willie Mae Green Ellis Sr., he lived in Missouri most of his life and was a member of St. Henry's Catholic Church in Charleston.

On Nov. 29, 1947, he married Inez Tate Ellis who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert A. and Lubertha Hollomon of Chicago, Ill., Joseph and Winda Ellis III of Bellwood, Ill., and Franklin K. and Sylvia Ellis of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Lottie M. Brown of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Narda Ellis of Charleston; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Four children, Aggie L. Harvey, Bobbie Hollomon, Johnnie L. Hollomon and Leslie Hollomon, preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Sparks Funeral Home, where parish prayers are scheduled for 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Henry's Catholic Church with the Rev. Gerald Brown officiating.

Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery near Charleston.
