PORTAGEVILLE - Doyle Edwin "Peck" Boone, 80, died May 5, 2004, at his home.
Born April 27, 1924, in Portageville, son of the late Francis and Beulah Hughes Boone, he retired as an assistant postmaster and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. A former member of the Portageville Fire Department, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge.
On Sept. 15, 1947, in Wilson, Ark., he married Opal Pigg, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Ricky Boone of Nashville, Tenn., and Barry Boone of Paragould, Ark.; two daughters, Terry Ward of Fort Smith, Ark., and Angie Fitzgerald of St. Charles; two sisters, Gwendlyn McGarrity of Dexter and Phyllis Walton of Farmington; nine grandchildren, Kathryn Bein, Misty Khourie, Josh Boone, Nathan Boone, Charles Boone, Melissa Laws, Shawna Jolly, Lara Fitzgerald and Konner Fitzgerald; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Dennis Boone; and one brother, Robert Boone.
Visitation begins at 6 p.m. today at DeLisle Funeral Home, where Masonic rites will be conducted at 7 p.m.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ed Rhodes officiating.
The Portageville Fire Department will conduct graveside rites at the Portageville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Steve Eftink, Todd Spence, Bobby Gee, Donnie Bland, Kelly Waller and Larry Coleman.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Dr. O.A. Huck, L.C. Keith, Gene Farmer, Bill Boone and members of the Portageville Fire Department.
