Loyd Shaver

MABELVALE, Ark. - Loyd Dale Shaver, 50, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died at 5 a.m. April 23, 2004, in Little Rock.

Born Feb. 9, 1954, in Sikeston, son of Betty Scott Shaver of Sikeston and the late Harold Shaver, he was a graduate of Sikeston High School and was a military police officer with the U.S. Air Force from 1972-81, serving statewide and overseas. He graduated from Cotton Boll Vocational Tech in Burdette with a certificate in air conditioning and refrigeration. Shaver earned an associate of applied science in industrial technology and an associate of applied science degree in nursing from Mississippi County Community College in Blytheville. He was a surgical nurse at Arkansas Children's Hospital.

On Dec. 3, 1981, he married Dolores Edwards who survives of the home.

Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include: one daughter, Layla Sutton of Sikeston; two brothers, Raymond Shaver of Sikeston and Johnny Shaver of New Madrid; one sister, Linda Helm of Sikeston; two grandchildren, Breanna Sutton and Scotty Sutton of Sikeston; and special friends, Jon Wellnitz, Ronnie Byrd and Doug Tuten.

Services were conducted Monday at the Ruebel Funeral Home in Little Rock with the Rev. Bob Edwards officiating.

Burial followed in the Elmwood Cemetery in Blytheville.
