Howard Edwards

BARDWELL, Ky. - Howard LeeRoy Edwards, 71, formerly of East Prairie, Mo., died at 7:15 a.m. May 6, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Born March 13, 1933, in East Prairie, daughter of the late Howard Orlin and Blanche Williams Edwards, he was a retired riverboat captain and owned a timber company in Bardwell.

On Aug. 11, 1981, he married Martha Smith who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Sam Edwards of Bardwell; one daughter, Joyce Edwards of Clinton; one brother, George Edwards of East Prairie; one sister, Sarah Ruth Cade of Aurora, Ind.; and two grandchildren, Wendy Edwards of Bardwell and Jason Morris of Clinton.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Orlin Wesley Edwards; one sister, Marilyn Edwards; and one granddaughter, Christi Edwards.

A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at The Cross in Wickliffe with the Rev. Rocky James officiating.

Shelby Funeral Home of East Prairie is in charge of arrangements.
