BELL CITY -- Bell City senior setter Whitney Abner, a first team All-State selection, has recently signed a letter of intent to continue her education and volleyball career at Shawnee, Ill. Community College in Ullin.

"I'm excited about the opportunity to continue my volleyball career," said Abner. "Shawnee has a quality program and it's relatively close to home."

Shawnee finished 9th in the junior college national tournament this past season.

This past high school season Abner helped lead Bell City to their 2nd state championship in school history for volleyball, the first being in 1996. Abner had 580 assists, 184 digs, and a 96% serving average her senior year.

In addition to being named All-State this past season, Abner was a 4 time all-Stoddard County Conference and all-district selection, as well as a 2 time SEMO All-Star team selection.
