Both Sikeston, Charleston roll

SIKESTON -- The Sikeston Bulldog tennis team improved their record to 7-1 Tuesday afternoon by downing Kennett 8-1.

"At this stage of the season we're just trying to get ready for districts," said Sikeston coach Brian James. "I've about decided on our best lineup for district play. We just have to keep getting better and try to eliminate some of the careless play that we still have from time-to-time. We've got to be more consistent, but I think we're getting better."

Sikeston will be back in action again today when they host Dexter at 4 p.m.

CHARLESTON -- The Charleston tennis team improved their record to 8-2 on the season by sweeping the Poplar Bluff Mules 9-0 Tuesday afternoon.

Less than one week after handing Poplar Bluff's Felipe Santos his first loss of the season in an epic 9-8 (10-8) match, Charleston's Alec Peterson again handled the standout for the Mules winning 8-5.

The Bluejays will be in action again Monday when they host Sikeston at 4 p.m.
