Ruth Catlin
KANSAS CITY - Ruth Garnetta Byrd Catlin, 58, formerly of Sikeston, died March 25, 2004, at her home.
Born July 8, 1945, in Sikeston, daughter of the late James E. and Betty Byrd, she graduated in 1963 from Sikeston High School. She was a teacher in the Kansas City schools for many years and was a member of the Northland Cathedral Assembly of God Church in North Kansas City. She was a violinist in her church orchestra and in the North Kansas City Philharmonia Orchestra.
On Nov. 5, 1966, she married Larry Gene Catlin who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, James Catlin of Stirling, Colo.; two daughters, Rebecca Catlin and Ann Catlin Govier of Kansas City; a son-in-law, Marc Govier of Kansas City; one brother, Dr. Jim Byrd of O'Fallon,; three sisters, Phyllis Byrd Bliesner of Ashburn, Va., Dianne Byrd Turner of Boston, Mass., and Myra Byrd of Fenton; two grandsons, Craig Catlin of Plantersville, Texas, and Avery Govier of Kansas City; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Sharon Byrd Stark.
A memorial service was conducted Saturday at the Northland Cathedral with the Rev. Lowell Harrup officiating.
