Marlin Smith

SIKESTON - Marlin Lee Smith, 80, died at 3 p.m. Dec. 10, 2003, at the Miner Nursing Center.

Born Jan. 24, 1923, in East Prairie, son of the late Jess and Karleen Harris Smith, he lived in Bertrand for 41 years where he was engaged in farming until his retirement. He moved to Sikeston in 1983 where he was a member of Shady Acres Church of Christ.

On Dec. 28, 1942, he married Nancy Ellen Groves who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Lee and Tom Mock of Bertrand; one brother, Bill M. Smith of Lafayette, Ind.; two granddaughters, Amanda Hunter of New Madrid and Cynthia Hornback of Sarasota, Fla.; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Shelby Gene Smith; two brothers, Adolph Smith and Harold T. Smith; and one sister, Louise Cox.

Visitation is from noon Sunday until service time at 2 p.m. at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Pat Hogan, minister of Shady Acres Church of Christ, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
