CHARLESTON - Byron S. Moxley, 80, died at 11:20 a.m. Sept. 27, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. Born Nov. 6, 1923, in Senath, son of the late Ernest and Pearl Shown Moxley, he lived in Mississippi County most of his life and was a landowner and retired farmer. A member of the United Methodist Church in Charleston, he was a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge 407 AF&AM and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II...

CHARLESTON - Byron S. Moxley, 80, died at 11:20 a.m. Sept. 27, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born Nov. 6, 1923, in Senath, son of the late Ernest and Pearl Shown Moxley, he lived in Mississippi County most of his life and was a landowner and retired farmer. A member of the United Methodist Church in Charleston, he was a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge 407 AF&AM and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

On May 8, 1949, he married Barbara Bethune who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Celeste Moxley of Charleston; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and David Patton of St. Louis and Sally and Max Michael of Charleston; two brothers, Fred Moxley of Charleston Route 2 and Don Moxley of Bertrand; three sisters, Gwen Hearnes of Little Rock, Ark., Emma Laird of Lady Lake, Fla., and Peggy Walker of Memphis, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Greg Patton and Jeff Patton of St. Louis, Sarah Michael Dovin of Jackson, Shelby Michael Alexander of Columbia, Robert Michael of Cape Girardeau and Elizabeth Anne Moxley and Stephen J. Moxley of Charleston; and four great-grandchildren, Catie Dovin and Camille Dovin of Jackson, Virginia Claire Alexander of Columbia and Abigail Michael of Cape Girardeau.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Warren G. Moxley and Prince Moxley; and one sister, Margaret Farmer.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Roger Jespersen, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.

Pallbearers will be: Greg Patton, Jeff Patton, Robert Michael, Stephen Moxley, Rick Alexander and Bruce Dovin.
