Virginia Tharp

SPRINGFIELD - Virginia M. Tharp, 86, died Nov. 10, 2004, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Born April 17, 1918, in Skene, Miss., daughter of the late Charles and Lillie Howarth Wing, she was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church in Pontiac, Mich. She taught school in Missouri from 1939 until moving to Pontiac in 1952, where she continued teaching until her retirement.

On April 20, 1940, in Bloomfield, she married Chester Tharp who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Carolyn Hayes Tharp of Leighton, Ala.; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Mike Boring of Ohio; three sisters, Ann Vaught of Dexter, Murlene Gilbow of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Louise James of Sikeston; four grandchildren, Chris Boring of Springfield, Bradley Tharp of Ohio and Heather Boring and Mandy Boring of Mesa, Ariz.; and one great-granddaughter, Aubry Tharp of Springfield.

One sister and three brothers preceded her in death.
