PARMA - Carter Nelson Davis, 80, died Aug. 27, 2001, at his home.

Born Feb. 26, 1921, in Doniphan, son of the late Ben and Jane Stovall Davis, he was a mechanic at the Loveless Garage and the Mahan Gin in Parma before retiring. He lived in Parma for more than 50 years and was a member of the Parma General Baptist Church.

On April 26, 1944, in Piggott, Ark., he married Beatrice Myrick who preceded him in death on April 30, 2001.

Survivors include: two sons, Carter Lee Davis Jr. of Port Wentworth, Ga., and Harry Carl Davis of Olive Branch, Miss.; four daughters, Joyce Julian of Orlando, Fla., Charlotte Whalen of Bloomfield, Patricia Goin of Jackson and Janet Heise of Malden; two brothers, Lester Davis of LaForge and Lloyd Davis of Arnold; one sister, Melba Bonds of Morehouse; and 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jacob Davis Jr. and Jerrel Davis; and two sisters, Violetta Reed and Mary Louise Scott.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Parma where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday with Cecil Keller of Malden officiating.

Burial will follow in the Rosewood Cemetery at Malden.
