BERTRAND - Herbert V. Stallings, 77, died April 22, 2004, at his home.

Born Dec. 28, 1926, in Concord, son of the late Oscar and Marie Weakley Stallings, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. A lifelong resident of Mississippi County, he farmed on the King Farms in Charleston and was of the Baptist belief.

On Oct. 1, 1972, in Union City, Tenn., he married Patricia Warsing who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: four sons, Darrell Ray Stallings of Charleston, Stanley Olen Fiscus of Barlow, Ky., James Nelson Fiscus of Belleville, Ill., and Gregory Allan Fiscus of Wellington, Colo.; three daughters, Sharon Faye Bruenderman of Sikeston, Patricia Ann Scudder of Poplar Bluff and Cynthia Ellen Hartwick of Bertrand; one brother, John Stallings of Brookport, Ill.; and 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Two sons and one sister preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. Saturday until service time at 2 p.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. The Rev. Bill Meeks, pastor of the First General Baptist Church of Charleston, will officiate.

The Missouri Military Funeral Honor Guard will conduct graveside rites at the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
