Johnny Smith

SIKESTON - Johnny Lee Smith, 48, died at 9:13 a.m. Sept. 9, 2001, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Born March 4, 1953, in St. Louis, he was the son of Betty Jean Smith Mancell of Sikeston.

On Dec. 28, 1971, in New Madrid, he married Jackie L. Thaxtion who survives of the home.

Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include: one brother, Jim Bo Mancell of Gulfport, Miss.; and four sisters, Sandra M. Midkiff of Annapolis, Betty Jean Mancell of Jefferson City, Deborah Mancell of Gulfport and Penny M. Eads of Poplar Bluff.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Blanchard Funeral Chapel, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Bob Burnes, pastor of House of Prayer General Baptist Church in Grant City, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the New Morley Cemetery at Morley.

Pallbearers will be: Bobby Sexton, Sammy Sexton, Jamie Lawson, Kenneth Mancell, Amos Huffman and Anthony Sexton.
