SCOTT CITY - Aletha Emma Varnon, 85, died Sept. 2, 2001, at the Parkview Health Care Facility in Bolivar.

Born Feb. 9, 1916, in Ancell, daughter of the late Otto and Anna Sander Walter, she retired from the Carter Carburetor Company in St. Louis and was a U.S. Army veteran. She was a former resident of St. Louis and Morrisville and of the Catholic belief.

Her husband, William "Bill" Varnon, preceded her in death on Nov. 13, 1959.

Survivors include: four brothers, Charles "Gene" Walter of Morrisville, Alfred Walter of Fruitland, Lenos Walter of Cape Girardeau and Henry Walter of Scott City; and two sisters, Dorothy Hamm of Commerce and Kathleen Green of Perryville.

Three brothers and one sister also preceded her in death.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. David Coon officiating.

Burial will follow in Lightner Memorial Cemetery at Scott City.
