Last week: Charleston beat Kennett 35-32. Sikeston lost to Jackson 34-7.

Players to watch: CHARLESTON -- (QB) Dontay Clark, (FB) Orrice Stanback, (RB) Jordy Mixon. SIKESTON -- (RB) Heath Hunter, (DB) Andrew Lambert, (OL) Kevin Keller.

Outlook: Once again Charleston is blessed with great speed and once again Sikeston is huge up front. These two teams are polar opposites.

Place, time: Houck Stadium in Cape Girardeau, 7:30 p.m. Coaches: NMCC's Steve Rogers (1-0), Cape Central's Lawrence Brookins (1-0).

Last year: NMCC won 20-7

Last week: NMCC beat Blytheville 28-0. Cape Central beat St. Charles West 21-7

Players to watch: NMCC -- (WR) Desmond Sims, (RB) Dereke Tipler, (WR) Terrance Smith. CAPE CENTRAL -- (RB) Marcus Klund, (DB) Monroe Hicks, (DL) Chris Smith.

Outlook: Both teams posted solid wins last week. Cape Central gave NMCC one of its toughest games last year. Favorite: NMCC

Kennett at Caruthersville

Place, time: Caruthersville High School, 7:30 p.m. Coaches: Kennett's Roland Johnson (0-1), Caruthersville's Jackie Johnson (0-1).

Last year: Kennett won 26-20.

Last week: Charleston beat Kennett 35-32. Anna-Jonesboro beat Caruthersville 47-7.

Players to watch: KENNETT -- (WR) Dustin Pritchett, (RB) Tyree Goolsby, (QB) Nathan Baker. CARUTHERSVILLE -- (RB) Chris Springer, (QB) Cliff Edwards, (RB) Jimmy Jackson.

Outlook: Caruthersville put themselves on the map in last year's close loss to the Indians. The Tigers are hoping that it wasn't a fluke.

Favorite: Kennett

Malden at Hayti

Place, time: Hayti High School, 7:30 p.m. Coaches: Malden's Kevin Collier (1-0), Hayti's David Gilmore (1-0).

Last year: Malden won 39-20.

Last week: Malden beat Scott City 19-13. Hayti beat East Prairie 24-0.

Players to watch: MALDEN -- (QB) Jamal Kilgore, (RB) James Sutton. HAYTI -- (RB) Demarcus Stewart, (QB) Matt Morgan, (RB) John Covington.

Outlook: Malden has owned Hayti for the last several years but this season appears to the Indians' best chance at stopping the streak.

Sumner at Jackson

Place, time: Jackson High School, 7:30 p.m.

Coaches: Sumner's Richard Perry (0-1), Jackson's Carl Gross (1-0).

Last year: Jackson won 42-6. Last week: Sumner lost to East St. Louis 21-8. Jackson defeated Sikeston 34-7. Players to watch: SUMNER -- (RB) David Lewis, (WB) Carl Ragsdale. JACKSON -- (RB) Mario Whitney, (LB) Seth Harrell, (DL) Travis Dambach. Outlook: The Indians appear to have the advantage in every category. This week Super Mario breaks out of his shell. Favorite: Jackson

Poplar Bluff at Blytheville

Place, time: Blytheville High School, 7:30 p.m.

Coaches: Poplar Bluff's Mark Barousse (1-0), Blytheville's Doug Quinn (0-1).

Last year: Poplar Bluff won 20-15.

Last week: Poplar Bluff defeated Dexter 31-13. Blytheville lost to NMCC 28-0.

Players to watch: POPLAR BLUFF -- (WR) Brent Little, (RB) Bob Larkins, (QB) Michael Crunk. BLYTHEVILLE -- (FB) Robert Harris, (QB) Jim McMiller, (WR) Brandon Bennett. Outlook: The Mules won't need a miracle pass at the buzzer to beat the Chickasaws this year. Favorite: Poplar Bluff

Dexter at Westside

Place, time: Westside High School in Jonesboro, Ark., 7:30 p.m.

Coaches: Dexter's Aaron Pixley (0-1), Westside's Jim Wiseman (0-1).

Last year: Dexter won 48-13. Last week: Dexter lost to Poplar Bluff 31-13. Westside lost to Pocahontas 46-6. Players to watch: DEXTER -- (RB) Matt Burnett, (WR) Jeff Rawson, (QB) Preston Clark. WESTSIDE -- (FB) Eric Harwell, (DL) Damian Escue, (K) John Boling. Outlook: Compared to Poplar Bluff, Westside is like a junior high team. Expect the Bearcats to win big this week. Favorite: Dexter

Coaches: Fredericktown's Kent Gibbs (0-1), Chaffee's Alan Horrell (1-0).

Last year: Fredericktown won 39-6.

Last week: Fredericktown lost to Crystal City 18-14. Chaffee defeated Grandview 16-8.

Players to watch: FREDERICKTOWN -- (RB) Luke Nicholson, (QB) Kyle Tesreau. CHAFFEE -- (RB) Jeremy Hahn, (K) Brandon Davis, (QB) Derek Urhahn. Outlook: The Blackcats are down this year, but winning will still be a tall task for the smaller Red Devils. Favorite: Fredericktown

East Prairie at Corning

Place, time: Bobcat Stadium in Corning, Ark., 7:30 p.m.

Coaches: East Prairie's John Garner (0-1), Corning's Mark Smith (0-1). Last year: East Prairie won 31-7. Last week: East Prairie lost to Hayti 24-0. Corning lost to Augusta 36-16. Players to watch: EAST PRAIRIE -- (LB) David Heath, (LB) Chase Brewer, (LB) Josh Thurman. CORNING -- (HB) Keith Morley, (QB) Andy Jett, (TE) T.J. Williams. Outlook: The Bobcats return six offensive and six defensive starters from last year's 0-10 team, but it won't be enough to beat the Eagles.

Coaches: Portageville's Jim McKay (0-1), Scott City's Stephen O'Brien (0-1).

Last year: Scott City won 27-14.

Last week: Portageville lost to Gosnell 39-20. Scott City lost to Malden 19-13.

Players to watch: PORTAGEVILLE -- (RB) Dantwan Chillers, (LB) Mark Mudd, (RB) Kyle Ezell. SCOTT CITY -- (RB) Brad Glenn, (FB) Andrew Estes, (OL) Trenton Estes. Outlook: When these two teams take the field, anything can happen. Even Portageville's first win since '99. Favorite: Portageville
