Sikeston netters roll over Malden, 9-0
MALDEN - The Sikeston girls tennis team made quick work of Malden on Thursday 9-0.
None of the matches were close as Sikeston improved to 3-2 on the season.
"They all did a great job today, No. 1 through No. 9," said Sikeston head coach Suzanne Hart. "It was a real good day. It was one of those fun days for the kids. Malden is down this year and they're inexperienced. Our kids took care of business and did it in a short time."
In singles, No. 1 Elizabeth Killion beat Tiffany Blake 8-0; No. 2 Lindsay Leible beat Constance Barber 8-1; No. 3 Heather Hester beat Stephanie Michel 8-0; No. 4 Valerie Haman beat Christina Phillips 8-1; No. 5 Erin Shelton beat Ashley Lancaster 8-0; and No. 6 Kellee Manley beat Sarah Phillips 8-1.
In doubles, Killion and Leible beat Barber and C. Phillips 8-1; Hester and Shelton beat Lancaster and S. Phillips 8-0; and Haman and Manley beat Michel and Rachael Phillips 8-2.
Sikeston won the JV match 4-0 to improve to 4-0 on the season. In singles, Rachel Colwick, Madeline Bucher and Leslie Powell won 6-0. Colwick and Bucher won their doubles match 6-1. Sikeston will play at Poplar Bluff on Monday at 4 p.m.
