BENTON - Elmer Charles "Johnny" Wiedefeld, 84, died at 3:45 p.m. Nov. 26, 2004, at his home.
Born March 4, 1920, in New Hamburg, son of the late Joseph and Rosalie Scheeter Wiedefeld, he retired as a construction worker for Clinton Construction and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. A member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton, he was also a member of VFW Post 3127 in Chaffee.
On July 29, 1948, at Piggott, Ark., he married Anna Marie Scheffer who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, J.W. Wiedefeld of Benton; three sisters, Norma Miller and Laverne Ballard of Chaffee and Viola Allen of Brookport, Ill.; and three grandchildren, Mark Gibbar of Florida and Scott Gibbar and Zachary Gibbar of Colorado; and four great-grandchildren.
One son, Kenneth Gibbar, and two sisters preceded him in death.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton where parish prayers will be said at 6 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Denis Catholic Church with the Rev. Normand Varone officiating.
The Missouri Military Honors Program will conduct graveside military rites at St. Denis Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Mark Gibbar, Scott Gibbar, Kevin Bollinger, Howie Bollinger, Jewell Moore, Dewayne Allen, Chris Vetter and Joe Lee Michael.
