Albert Armes

CAPE GIRARDEAU - Albert C. Armes, 84, died Nov. 12, 2004, at the Missouri Veterans Home.

Born Aug. 4, 1920, in Essex, son of the late George and Agnes Atherton Armes, he lived in Stoddard County most of his life. He was a member of the Pollock Church of Christ and had also served as an elder for the Church of Christ in Bloomfield and Fredericktown. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he retired in 1982 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service.

On April 16, 1949, he married Alberta Burkhart who survives of the home.

Other survivors include; three sons, Terry Armes of Bloomfield, Gary Armes of Masonville, Colo., and Randy Armes of Jackson; three brothers, Robert Armes of Milan, Theadore Armes of Vanduser and Dewey Armes of Warrensburg; four sisters, Geneva Parker of Kansas City, Laura Almond of Lennon, Mich., Alice Cathrine Wagoner of Flatonia, Texas, and Mary Williams of Lathrop; and 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Three brothers and one grandson preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. today until service time at 2 p.m. at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Dale Grissom will officiate.

Graveside military rites will be conducted at the Walker Cemetery in Bloomfield.
