MOREHOUSE -- Steven and Effie Hughes have announced the engagement of their daughter, Carrie Beth, to Joshua Allen Daniel Thacker, son of Ray and Linda Thacker of Portageville.
The future bride, granddaughter of Joe and Lou Hughes of Morehouse and the late Andrew and Opal Stewart, plans to major in nursing at Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff.
Her fiance is the grandson of Ollie Thacker of Portageville, Imogene Jeffries of Thayer and the late Hoy Thacker and L.D. Jeffries. He is a student at the Nashville (Tenn.) Auto Diesel College.
The couple will be married in a Sept. 3 ceremony.
