SIKESTON - Justa Underwood of Portageville hurriedly filled her shopping cart before her 3-minute time limit expired in Friday's shopping spree at Sheehy's IGA. Underwood filled the basket with about 4,500 of assorted meats, sodas and washing detergent in the spree, sponsored by the Sikeston Jaycees. She attributed her success to her running shoes and excitement. "My husband never thought I could get this much," she said.

NEW MADRID - After thumbing through page after page of numbers and notations, New Madrid County officials indicated they are very pleased with state auditors findings in their 120-plus page report. "This is the best audit we have ever had," said County Clerk Jim W. Farrenburg. The 11 findings noted by the auditors in their review of county finances from 1990-92 were the fewest number of criticisms received by the county in an audit, he added.


SIKESTON - In an exclusive interview with staff reporter Jill Bock, Santa Claus revealed that he would be taking a week's vacation after Christmas. He also said he loved his job - especially working with children.
