Fred Moen

LOWNDES - Fred Moen, 82, died Dec. 14, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born June 30, 1921, in Swiney, Texas, son of the late Joe and Jenny Couch Moen, he was a farmer, timber worker and heavy equipment operator before retiring. He was a U.S. Army medic during World War II.

On Jan. 12, 1944, he married Berniece Duniphan who preceded him in death in 1988.

Survivors include: two daughters, Diane Evans of Poplar Bluff and Sandra Bacon of Jackson; three brothers Amund Moen of Lewistown, Pa., Joe Moen of Lowndes and Robert Moen of Piedmont; six sisters, Celita Henderson of Columbia, Ill., Mary Whitley of Mineral Point, Rosie Duniphan of Rogus, Ark., Evelyn Case of Walnut Hill, Ill., Betty Salsbury of Belleville, Ill., and Bonnie Long of Cahokia, Ill.; and four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one son and one daughter.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Luther Rhodes will officiate.

Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery at McGee.
