Alvis Haynes

DEXTER - Alvis Haynes, 85, died Oct. 18, 2002, at Missouri Southern Healthcare.

Born July 14, 1917, at Double Springs, Ala., son of the late William and Alma Tidwell Haynes, he was a retired farmer and of the Baptist belief.

On Feb. 1, 1939, at Lynn, Ala., he married Esther Lou Winters who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: five sons, James Haynes of Essex, Wayne Haynes and Randy Haynes of Dexter, David Haynes of Bernie and Kenneth Haynes of Sikeston; 11 daughters, Shirley Austin of Tempe, Ariz., Dicie Griggs of Mineral Point, Mary Waltman, Gwendolyn Mills, Kathy Smith, Terrie Lemons and Christine Haynes of Dexter, Jane Auglur of Florissant, Margaret Caldwell of Malden and Theresa Bostic and Patricia Kay Spradling of Bloomfield; four brothers, Albert Haynes of Eldridge, Ala., G.C. Haynes of Kokomo, Ind., and Norman Haynes and Russell Haynes of St. Louis; five sisters, Jackie Sue Harmon of St. Louis, Wanda Kelly of Sikeston and Maureen Haynes, Lois Haynes and Ruth Haynes of Houston, Texas; and 27 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Paul Haynes and Charles Haynes; three brothers, Howard Haynes, Earnest Haynes and Billy Haynes; and three grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter with the Rev. Bill Pennington officiating.

Burial will follow in the Essex Cemetery.
