CAIRO, Ill. - John Wheeler Parnell, 55, died Dec. 26, 2003.
Born July 25, 1948, in Charleston, son of the late Jimmie and Mildred Smith Parnell, he attended Cairo Public Schools and was of the Baptist belief. He was an assembly line worker for Burkhart Manufacturing in Cairo.
In 1968, he married Mareva Flowers.

urvivors include: two sons, Micheal Smith of Dayton, Ohio, and Timothy Smith of Cairo; one daughter, Aundra Edwards of Toledo, Ohio; two brothers, Alvin Smith and Harry Williams of Cairo; five sisters, Eartha Mae Warner and Cassandra Smith of Oakland, Calif., Loretta Morse of Chicago, Justin Kelly of Atlanta, Ga., and Clementine Smith of Cairo; and 13 grandchildren.
Visitation is from noon Friday until service time at 1 p.m. at the Christ Temple Church of God in Christ in Cairo. Elder Terry Holder, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston, Mo.
Sparks Funeral Home of Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
