Duane Kirby

BLOOMFIELD - Edward Duane Kirby, 77, died May 1, 2002, at his home.

Born Aug. 28, 1924, at Bloomfield, son of the late John H. and Cannie O. Edwards Kirby, he was a retired electrical construction superintendent and at one-time owned and operated a movie theater in Bloomfield. A member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bloomfield and the Bloomfield Masonic Lodge 153 AF&AM, he was a Boy Scout leader for several years and helped plant pine trees for the park in Bloomfield. Also he served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

On Feb. 11, 1971, he married Deane Christian, who survives of the home in Bloomfield.

Other survivors include one son, Steve Kirby of Seattle, Wash.; one daughter, Debra Keirsey of Dexter; one stepson, Rich Richmond of Bloomfield; two stepdaughters, Donna Deardorff and Rebecca Gisi of Bloomfield; and two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren and three great-stepgrandchildren.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. Friday until time for services at 11 a.m. Friday at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bloomfield. The Rev. Ron Dunavin will officiate.

The body was cremated with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
