SIKESTON - Edith Jeannette Carter Ancell Ford, 92, died at 4:05 a.m. May 1, 2002, at the Clearview Nursing Center.

Born Nov. 23, 1909, in Sikeston, daughter of the late Robert Frank and Essie Jackson Carter, she was a secretary for 42 years with the International Shoe Co. A 1928 graduate of Sikeston High School, she was one of the original Red Peppers and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 137.

On May 3, 1931, at Blytheville, Ark., she married Lynn Ancell, who preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1948. On Oct. 27, 1951 in St. Louis she married Leonard E. Ford, who preceded her in death in 1955.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Lillian Ancell and Larry Braden of Sikeston; one stepdaughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Mike Kilgore of Clearwater, Fla.; four grandchildren, Ellen Schroder of Reno, Nev., Leslie Thomas of Houston, Texas, Tracey Presley of Panama City Beach, Fla., and Mikell Kilgore of Clearwater, Fla.; and six great-grandchildren, Stephen Schroder and Matthew Schroder of Reno, Erica Patterson of Cambridge, Ohio, Erin Thomas of Houston and Aaron Presley and Benjamin Smith of Panama City Beach.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. Saturday until time for services at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Sandy Schaller, associate pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Larry Braden, Larry Nickell, Charles Ancell, Harry White, Harry Sharp and Bill Whitlock.
