WYATT - A Dexter middle school teacher was killed in a one-vehicle crash at 10:15 a.m. Saturday on U.S. 60, three miles east of Wyatt in Mississippi County.
According to the highway patrol report, Susan I. Watkins, 47, of Dexter was eastbound in a 1998 Ford when it ran off the right side of the roadway. Watkins reportedly overcorrected, which caused the vehicle to run off the left side of the roadway where it overturned several times.
Watkins received moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston for treatment.
Her passenger, Kristy L. Becker, 31, of Dexter, was pronounced dead at the scene by Mississippi County Coroner Terry Parker at 11:05 a.m.
Her body was taken to McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
