Phyllis Watkins

SIKESTON - Phyllis Tedlie Watkins, 75, died at 8 p.m. May 3, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Born March 31, 1927 in Hartland, New Brunswick, Canada, to the late Wendell Phillips and Claire Augusta Boyer Tedlie Sr., she was a member of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Sikeston. One of the original nurses at Missouri Delta Medical Center, she worked as a nurse at the Regional Diagnostic Center and for the Sikeston Public Schools. She was also director of nurses at Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau for 17 years.

On July 14, 1949, in St. Louis, she married Richard L. "Dick" Watkins who preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 1944.

Survivors include: three sons, Terry Watkins of St. Charles, Ted Watkins of Washington, Mo., and Tim Watkins of Chicago, Ill.; one daughter, Allison E. Hagen of Sikeston; one sister, Norma Somerville of St. John, New Brunswick, Canada; and 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Kevin Phillips Watkins, and one brother, Wendell P. "Bud" Tedlie.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Ned Bowden, pastor of the Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Poplar Bluff, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
