DEXTER -- James Leo Williams, 71, died Aug. 15, 2002, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born June 18, 1931, at Dexter, son of the late William Harrison and Lucy Livingston Williams, he retired as a boil maker for Monarch Steele in the bay area of California and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He attended the First General Baptist Church in Bloomfield.

On April 2, 1989, at Powe, he married Wanda Belcher Jones who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: three stepsons, John Paul Jones Sr. of Rector, Ark., Ronnie Lee Jones and Larry B. Jones of Bloomfield; one stepdaughter, Wanda Sue Bellers of Piggott, Ark.; two sisters, Clorine Shipman and Theota Litzler of Dexter; and 11 stepgrandchildren and six great-stepgrandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Lee Williams and one sister, Marie Allstun.

Services are scheduled for 4 p.m. today at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter with the Rev. Kevin Eskew officiating.

Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
