Ida Kinney
DEXTER - Ida Novella Kinney, 86, died Aug. 16, 2002, at Cypress Point Health Care Center in Dexter.
Born Feb. 29, 1916, in Dexter, daughter of the late William Green and Martha Kruse Kinney, she was a member and Sunday school teacher at the First Baptist Church in Dexter. She attended Dexter Public Schools and graduated from Arkansas State University and George Peabody College. Her teaching career began in Frisco, Dudley and Bertrand and she taught elementary grades and music at Kennett. Before retiring, she taught fourth grade at Dexter for 40 years. A supporter of the Missouri State Teachers Association and Dexter CTA, she served as a board member for the Department of Classroom Teachers, was a past president of the Dexter CTA and charter member of Beta Zeta Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa. A 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 311, where she had served as district deputy grand matron of the 50th District. She had also worked with Rainbow Girls and was honored by the Southeast Missouri Teachers Association for her service.
She is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Onieta and Judge Paul McGhee of Dexter.
One brother, Lincoln Kinney, preceded her in death.
Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. today at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter with the Rev. Don Kennedy officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
