Dick Reid
SCOTT CITY - Dick Arnold Reid, 82, died at 4:45 a.m. Aug. 8, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born June 11, 1920, in Hastings, Fla., son of the late Arnold and Mina Schuman Reid, he was a self-employed farmer and served with the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hastings, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Loyal Order of the Moose and served with the Florida Auxiliary Highway Patrol for 36 years.
On June 20, 1990, in Scott City, he married Ruby Smith Rogers who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: three stepsons, John Rogers Jr., Charles Rogers and Dale Rogers of Scott City; one stepdaughter, Carolyn Tinsley of Scott City; one brother, Harold Reid of Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister, Evelyn Kaiser of Hastings; and seven stepgrandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
Visitation begins at 4 p.m. Saturday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, where services are scheduled for 7 p.m. The Rev. Ken Strong will officiate.
Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at Palatka Memorial Gardens in Palatka, Fla.
Honorary pallbearers will be: John Rogers Jr., Charles Rogers, Ray O'Howell Jr., Dale Rogers, Tracy Rogers, Darin Rogers, Brian Rogers and Kenny Griffin.
