SIKESTON -- Martha Jane Tanner, 79, died at 5:05 a.m. Dec. 17, 2003, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
Born Dec. 26, 1923, in Bowling Green, daughter of the late Thomas and Effie Moss Stoner, she graduated as salutatorian from Blodgett High School in 1942 and worked in the cafeteria for Sikeston Public Schools. A life member of the Disabled American Veteran's Ladies Auxiliary, she was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.
On June 20, 1942, in Sikeston, she married James A. Tanner who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Ben and Meow Tanner of Alexandria, La., and Mike and Lisa Tanner of Warner Robins, Ga.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Gerald Rogers and Peggy and James Thurman of Sikeston and Betty and Jerry Hampton of Cape Girardeau; and 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters, two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe McCullough, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.
