SIKESTON - Evelyn Lois Howard, 74, died Dec. 16, 2003, at Missouri Delta Medical Center. Born Feb. 19, 1929, in Bennett Township in Clay County, Ark., daughter of the late John Wesley and Effie Bell Hinkle Jordan, she had attended the United Pentecost Church in Sikeston. She had been a nurse aide at Missouri Delta Medical Center and in-home care before retiring and was a member of Eagles Aerie 3319 Ladies Auxiliary and VFW Post 3174 Ladies Auxiliary in Sikeston...

SIKESTON - Evelyn Lois Howard, 74, died Dec. 16, 2003, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Born Feb. 19, 1929, in Bennett Township in Clay County, Ark., daughter of the late John Wesley and Effie Bell Hinkle Jordan, she had attended the United Pentecost Church in Sikeston. She had been a nurse aide at Missouri Delta Medical Center and in-home care before retiring and was a member of Eagles Aerie 3319 Ladies Auxiliary and VFW Post 3174 Ladies Auxiliary in Sikeston.

She was previously married to Orville P. Payne and Robert L. McDowell.

On March 9, 1974, at Ann Arbor, Mich., she married Tollie L. Howard who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: four sons, Ray E. Payne and Timmy D. Payne of Sikeston, Orville Lee Payne of Bloomfield and Randy D. Payne of Chaffee; three daughters, Loretta Holland of Ypsilanti, Mich., Robin L. Hayes of Malden and Alethea T. Roper of Sikeston; one sister, Lucille Alexander of New Madrid; and 24 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Beverly Payne; and three brothers and two sisters.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Scott Sutton, pastor of New Life Ministries in New Madrid, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
