SIKESTON -- Jonathan Kyle Spence, 16, died June 29, 2002, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born March 12, 1986, at Sikeston, son of Brenda Spence of Sikeston, he was a member of Miner Baptist Church. A junior at Sikeston Public Schools, he was a member of the varsity golf team, the wrestling team his freshman year, the math club and Student Council. He also served as treasurer of the Spanish club.

In addition to his mother, other survivors include: his grandmother, Syble Kelley of Sikeston; three uncles, Richard Spence of Cary, Ill., Don Spence of Senath and Bill Kelley of Chicago; three aunts, Sandra Spence of Sikeston, Sheila Thompson of Byhalia, Miss., and Joyce South of Warrensburg; special cousins, Stephen Reid of Byhalia, Ray Spence, Shelby Spence, Nathan Spence and Andrew Spence of Kennett; and special friends, Rev. Tom Greers, Sara Lindsey, and Casey Robinson of Sikeston and Mike Long of Kennett.

His grandfathers, Paul Kelley and Raymond Spence, preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Tom Greers, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, and Tanner Fritz will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Dunklin County Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers will be: Tanner Fritz, Matt Bain, Brandon DeWitt, E.C. Atchison, Stephen Reid, Ed Pike and Jason Deere.
